NEW BETHEL BAPTIST WORSHIP EXPERIENCE CHURCH

THE CHURCH ON GOD'S CORNER

The Journey

For One-Hundred Years , God has been planting seeds, nourishing and cultivating them to fruition in the fertile soil at New Bethel Baptist Church (now New Bethel Baptist Worship Experience Church).

New Bethel Baptist  Church was the oldest church in the Second Ward area at 215 Ann Street.

In the year of 1958, the later Rev. L. V. Adams was called to pastor New Bethel Baptist Church.  Under his leadership, membership grew and various auxiliaries and building projects were established, recorded, and put into operations.  The late Rev. L.V. Adams served as Pastor for 3 years.  In the years of 1962-1984 Rev. J. W. Grace, a family man with a wife and children, heard the cry for help.  Under Rev. Grace’s leadership the church continued to grow.  During this time we came to know: Deacon Palmer, Deacon Hoy Lewis, Johnnie B. Tucker; Trustees: A.E. Boone, S. E. Barr, Phillip Lewis, Martin Donald Sr., and C. Clemons; and Secretary: Sis D. Parker.

After serving faithfully for 22 years, the late Rev. J.W. Grace who was loved dearly, health began to fail and was called home to be with the Lord during the year of 1984.  Also during the year of 1984 New Bethel Baptist Church had to relocate from Ann Street and services were held at various locations under Rev. Mark Jones. Rev. Mark Jones served as Pastor for 3 years, from 1984-1987 during which time no church records existed.  Through perseverance, prayer, faith, and work, a new church was built in Kashmere Garden at its current location of 3535 Brewster St. in December of 1985. We have resided here
from 1985 to present 2021.

Later in 1987, Caleb B. Anderson, a young man raised in the Heights, accepted the call to share and contribute to the growth of the church.  A few years later God blessed us with a First Lady, Vanessa Anderson and 2 children: Joshua and Amber Anderson.
Pastor Anderson has been our Shepherd and Overseer for 33 years. Through faith and prayers, we move toward the Kingdom Enterprises.
